SALT LAKE CITY - Utah baseball shortstop James Brooks has been selected to the watch list for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award, released by the National College Baseball Hall of Fame. The list features 50 of the nation's finest Division I shortstops, including seven from the Pac-12.
Brooks is tied for second in the Pac-12 with 15 doubles, tied for fourth with eight home runs, sixth with 93 total bases and eight in slugging percentage (.547). He is second on the team with a .318 batting average and 27 RBI, and has a team-high 54 hits.
The Brooks Wallace Award recognizes the nation's top shortstop and will be presented on June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame's "Night of Champions".
