SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's basketball team announced its complete 2012-13 schedule Wednesday. The Utes will play nine non-conference home games, including three during a Thanksgiving tournament at the Huntsman Center, before tipping off the Pac-12 season on the road at Arizona on Jan. 3.
Ute Fans will be treated to five non-conference home games to begin the season, starting with Willamette (Nov. 9) and Sacramento State (Nov. 16). Utah will then host a three-day Thanksgiving tournament, Nov. 21, 23-24, formatted as a four-team round robin that will include the Utes, Central Michigan, Idaho State and Wright State. It will be the first regular-season tournament hosted by Utah since the 1988 Utah Classic.
The rest of the non-conference home slate includes Boise State (Dec. 5), Evergreen State (Dec. 14), SMU (Dec. 18) and Cal State Northridge (Dec. 21). Non-conference road games will include SMU (Nov. 28), Texas State (Nov. 30) and BYU (Dec. 8).
Utah will open its Pac-12 season on the road at Arizona (Jan. 3) and Arizona State (Jan. 5), before hosting UCLA (Jan. 10) in its conference home opener.
