Three Utes Advance at USA F25 Futures Event

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Four members of the University of Utah men's tennis team appear this weekend at the USA F25 Futures at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center. Three Utes advanced to the second round of qualifying play after earning victories in the first round of qualifying play Friday.
Sophomore Slim Hamza downed Dimitar Pamukchian 6-4, 6-2, while fellow sophomore Rafael Davidian topped Nicholas Bjerke, 6-3, 6-1. Hamza will next face Ziad Sultan and Davidian will take on Masayoshi Ono. Junior Devin Lane netted a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Todd Volmari and will play Calum Puttergill Saturday in the second round.
Senior Dmytro Mamedov was the only Ute to not advance after dropping a 6-4, 7-6(4) decision to Ryoto Tachi.
Hamza, Davidian, and Lane return to the Costa Mesa Tennis Center Saturday for the second round of consolation play. Check back to utahutes.com for updates following each day of the event.
