The Streak Goes On: Utah has gone 11-0-1 in its last 12 games and has not lost since Feb. 16. Over this stretch, the Utes have outscored their opponents 66 to 23 and have held a .299 batting average at the plate, compared to a .245 clip for their opponents.
Checking In With Pacheco: Utah freshman catcher Shelby Pacheco (Casa Granda, Ariz.) hit the first three home runs of her career for a total of 10 RBI last weekend at the Mayfair Classic. Pacheco hit .400 with six hits in 15 at-bats to go with a 1.000 slugging percentage as well as a .412 on-base percentage.
Pacheco exploded for five RBI on two hits in the Mayfair Classic on Sunday against Bethune-Cookman, an 8-0 five-inning victory for the Utes. She hit a grand slam in the second inning off a 3-0 pitch for her third round-tripper in two days.
Pacheco was equally as impressive behind the plate defensively for the Utes as she threw out all three opponent base runners who attempted to steal a base against Utah at the Mayfair Classic. One of the victims, Idaho State's Katelyn Marquez, was thrown out for the first time this season and is now 9-of-10 on stolen base attempts.
`Boogie' Digs In: Junior pitcher Naomi Amu (Oceanside, Calif.), known to her teammates as `Boogie', only allowed one earned run in 23.0 innings of work with a pair of complete games at the Mayfair Classic.
Amu scattered 16 hits and struck out 12 opponent hitters and picked up three victories in four appearances last weekend and has now won six straight decisions on the mound. She now owns a 7-2 overall record in 2013.
