WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Utah freshman third baseman Dallas Carroll has earned Utah's first-ever Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Week for March 18-24, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Carroll led the Utes to a 3-1 week with a midweek win over Utah Valley and a pair of victories against Stanford. He hit .412 in the week (7-for-17) with two doubles, five RBI and a stolen base.
Carroll kicked off the week going 2-for-3 against Utah Valley on Tuesday, driving in the game-tying run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. On Friday against Stanford, he went 2-for-5 with a two-RBI single in the top of the ninth inning that cut into a four-run deficit. He scored the winning run against the Cardinal on Saturday after a leadoff single in the top of the 10th inning. In the rubber match on Sunday against Stanford, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Utah's 7-5 win.
Carroll has started every game for the Utes this season. He has a .286 batting average with three doubles, two triples and nine RBI. Carroll is tied for sixth in the conference with six stolen bases. He is currently on a six-game hitting streak.
Utah hosts BYU on Tuesday, March 26, at 6:00 p.m. MT in its next game.
