The University of Utah softball team starts Pac-12 Conference play this weekend in Seattle against No. 5 Washington at Husky Softball Stadium.
The first game between the Utes and Huskies will be Friday, Mar. 14 at 5 p.m. PT. The middle contest will be Saturday, Mar. 15 at 2 p.m. PT, followed by the series finale on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 12 p.m. PT.
No. 5 Washington is 19-4 overall this season and the games with Utah will be its home opening series.

USF Tournament Recap: The Utes went 2-3 last weekend in the USF Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. Utah picked up a 2-0 win against Chattanooga and a 4-0 victory over Seton Hall on Mar. 7 Utah then settled for a pair of losses the following day on Mar. 15, 4-3 to Indiana State and 4-1 to Kansas. The Utes were edged 7-4 at South Florida on Mar. 9 in the finale of the USF Tournament.
Hit to Win: The Utes are 9-0 this season when coming up with more hits than their opponents
Urtez At the Plate: Utah freshman shortstop Anissa Urtez (Long Beach Calif.) drove in a team-high seven RBI in seven games last week to go with a .364 batting average, which ranked second on the squad. Urtez homered and tripled for four RBI on Mar. 3 in the round robin against Ole Miss and Utah State. Urtez knocked an RBI single to right-center field on Mar. 7 against Chattanooga before going for two more hits in three at-bats with an RBI and run scored on Mar. 8 against Indiana State. She then had two hits and drove in a run on Mar. 9 at South Florida.
This season, Urtez is hitting .352 with a .611 slugging percentage and .386 on-base percentage. She leads the team with 17 RBI this season and tied for the team lead with three home runs.
