SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team plays its final road series of the season at Arizona State, with the three-game series beginning Friday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. PT. The series continues on Saturday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. PT, and Sunday, May 18, at 12:30 p.m. PT.
The Utes (16-30, 4-20 Pac-12) are coming off a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over BYU. Utah scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for the win. It their last Pac-12 series, the Utes went 1-2 against Washington State last weekend. The Utes won the first game of the series 4-1 in extra innings.
Arizona State is tied for third in the Pac-12 (27-21, 14-10 Pac-12). The Sun Devils recently won two of three against Oregon, and are coming off a midweek win over UNLV.
"We're going to play hard this weekend and see where the chips fall," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We're playing a good ball club. We'll be tested, but our guys are ready. We chopped up the pitching (against BYU) so our bullpen should be healthy this weekend.
"Whatever our record is, our guys have battled every day from day one. I can't say enough about this group and how hard they've worked, and how much they've battled. We've been punched in the gut so many times this year, and they keep coming back."
After Arizona State, the Utes host Stanford, May 23-25, to close out the season.
