SALT LAKE CITY - Eight Utah baseball players have been named to the 2014 Pac-12 Baseball All-Academic teams, led by senior TJ Bennett, who was a first-team selection.
Bennett has a 3.57 grade point average and is majoring in communications. Named to the second team was seniors Tanner Banks and Nick Green. Banks has a 3.41 grade point average with a major in health, society and policy. Green, who was an honorable mention selection last season, has a 3.34 grade point average and is majoring in economics.
Honorable mention selections were sophomore Dalton Carroll, senior Josh Chapman, sophomore Bret Helton, senior Cory Hunt and junior Biss Larsen. Chapman and Hunt are both three-time Pac-12 all-academic honorable mention honorees, and Chapman is was a four-time academic all-conference selection, including earning Mountain West Conference honors as a freshman.
To be eligible for selection to the all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
