The Utah baseball team currently has eight former players in professional baseball.
C.J. Cron made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Angels on May 3. Cron is hitting .289 with eight doubles and eight home runs through 43 games with the team. He recently hit two homers against Kansas City on June 27.
Stephen Fife returned to action this past week with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes after spending close to two months on the disabled list, making a start against Reno on June 27. He has made one start for the Los Angeles Dodgers this year, going against Miami on May 4. Fife has a 5.86 ERA in eight games with the Isotopes, and has 15 strikeouts.
Parker Morin is currently on a rehab assignment with the Idaho Falls Chukars of the rookie Pioneer League. He started the season with the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals, hitting .211 over 23 games.
Tyler Wagner has spent the season with the high-A Brevard County Manatees. He is 7-4 on the season and has 1.81 ERA (second in the league) over 15 games with 68 strikeouts. In June he was selected as a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star.
After sitting out last season following surgery after being drafted in 2013, Trey Nielsen pitched his first game for the Class-A State College Spikes on June 14. He is 2-0 in four games as a relief pitcher with a 1.86 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
All three of Utah's 2014 draftees have signed with their parent clubs. Nick Green has pitched in three games for the rookie league Idaho Falls Chukars with one save, and has not allowed a hit or run over 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. Tanner Banks has made three relief appearances with the rookie league Arizona League White Sox. He has pitched four innings and has a 2.25 ERA. Mitch Watrous is on the reserve list for the rookie league Arizona League Padres.
