SALT LAKE CITY - This Saturday, the Utah men's basketball team will take part in the inaugural Huntsman 5K presented by Regence.
This family-friendly fun run for cancer research starts at 9 a.m. on September 20. The run begins and ends at 151 Fort Douglas Blvd on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City.
"We all know someone who has been affected by cancer," Utah junior Jeremy Olsen said. "If we can do something to raise awareness of this horrible disease or help support the Huntsman Cancer Institute in its battle, we are proud to be involved."
All funds raised go directly toward expanding cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Packets and late registration will be available on race morning at 151 Ft. Douglas Blvd from 7:30 - 9 a.m.
There is also a Kids Fun K sponsored by Jamba Juice for kids 12 and under that begins at 8:40 a.m. Kids will be led by the Jamba Juice mascot, followed by treats for participants.
Registration is $35 for the Huntsman 5K; $10 for the Kids Fun K. Registered runners receive a T-shirt and a finish line celebration.
Each 5K runner is encouraged to fundraise $100; Kids 1K runners are encouraged to fundraise $50. Upon registration, a personal webpage will be generated to help in fundraising.
