With baseball season right around the corner, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is Joshua Tedeschi, who is from Goleta, Calif., and played at Dos Pueblos High School.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
Winning the state championship with an all-star team.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
Football
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Play any other sports.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
I got the nickname Teddy in high school baseball from my last name.
Why did you choose Utah?
I chose Utah because it was the best opportunity for me to continue my baseball career at the highest level.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My father has been the biggest influence in my life because he has always pushed me to be the best I can be every single day.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The food and the scenery.
What are your goals for this year?
My goals for this year are to earn a role on the team where I can contribute as much as possible from both the pitchers mount and in the dugout, and to help the team to as many wins as possible.
What are your pregame superstitions?
I listen to a select music playlist and make sure I do everything the same way if I pitched well in the game before.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Exercise and sport science. After I graduate it is my goal to be selected in the MLB Draft and if that does not work out, I hope to continue in sports, whether that be physical therapy or athletic training or something along those lines. Sports are my passion, and I plan to make them a part of my life for as long as I live.
