SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team continued with its preparations for the 2015 season with a three-game simulated series over the weekend.
With the unusually warm weather in the Salt Lake area, the team has had an opportunity to practice outside without heading to southern Utah.
"Everything is progressing nicely," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We're building the pitchers up as far as logging innings for them. We are getting a lot of game situations. So far so good. We've had some outstanding plays and our offense and the pitching looks good.
"It has been nice to be able to practice outside, so I think we're further ahead than we've ever been because of that. We still have another big weekend next weekend to simulate a three-game series and hone in on things to make sure we're prepared for the following weekend against Sacramento State."
Utah opens its 2015 campaign with a four-game series at Sacramento State, Feb. 13-16.
