With baseball season just a few weeks away, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is C.J. Santoyo, who played at St. Rita High School in Chicago, Ill.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
Shutting out the state champions in a tournament game.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
Basketball
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Listening to music, spending time with family or both.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
Chicago or Southside. My teammates asked where I was from and I said the Southside of Chicago, and it stuck.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because of the coaches and the Pac-12 Conference. The mountains are the best thing.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My dad, mainly because he always told me to never settle for less and that sacrifice is key.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
How clean the city is.
What are your goals for this year?
To excel in my classes and be the best person and teammate possible.
What are your pregame superstitions?
Listening to music, drinking water slowly and walking on my tippy toes for a bit.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
I am undecided.
