LAST TIME OUT
The Utes extended its winning streak to 10-straight games with a pair of midweek wins over College of Charleston in Walnut, Calif., on Tuesday.
In game one, Utah took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Hannah Flippen walked to lead off the game leading to RBI hits from Kate Dickman and Marissa Mendenhall. A solo home run from Charleston cut the Utes lead to 2-1 in the second inning before Mendenhall came back for a two-run homer in the third to boost Utah's lead to 4-1. It was Mendenhall's second home run of the year. She led Utah with a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs.
On the mound, Katie Donovan went the distance, striking out seven. She allowed one run on four hits. She raises her record to 5-1 on the year.
In game two, solo home runs from Flippen and Dickman was all the scoring the Utes would need en route to a 2-1 victory. It was the third homer of the year for each of them, and both went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the game. The College of Charleston got on the board in the sixth inning with a solo home run for its only scoring of the game.
Miranda Viramontes earned the win on the mound, striking out five over six innings. She allowed one run on six hits with five walks and forced the Cougars into leaving eight runners on base.
