OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Fresh off its fifth consecutive Pac-12 Conference series win, Utah softball (33-16, 11-10 Pac-12) is ranked No. 24 in this week's ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, ASA/USA Softball announced on Tuesday.
This marks the first time in school history that the Utes have been ranked in the ESPN.com poll and first time to be nationally ranked by either the NFCA or ESPN.com polls since 2001, when Utah checked in at No. 25 in the NFCA preseason poll on Jan. 24.
Today's ranking also marks the first time that head coach Amy Hogue has seen her squad receive a top-25 ranking after a couple of weeks of receiving votes in both the NFCA and ESPN.com polls this season.
Utah has seven victories over top 25-ranked opponents this season with a win over No. 10 Tennessee to go along with a pair of wins over No. 16 California, No. 15 Arizona and No. 22 Arizona State.
The ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll is voted on by coaching representatives of 10 Division I Conferences in the 15 ASA/USA Softball Regions as well as members of the National and Local media who consistently cover Division I Softball across the country.
