PALO ALTO, Calif.- The Utah women's track and field team capped off a great weekend at the Stanford Invitational. The Utes competed in three events on the final day, including an impressive performance in the 800 by Sarah Feeny.
"We didn't have too many things going on today," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "It was short and sweet, but we definitely had some more good things happen. Overall, I thought that we had a very productive weekend. I am excited that we can have such a solid weekend this early in the season, but now we have to go home and continue to get better and improve.
Getting the action underway for the Utes was true freshman Sarah Feeny in the 800. Feeny competed in the fifth section, where she clocked a time of 2:10.07 to win that section. Senior Nikki Rietz also competed in the event, finishing sixth in section eight with a time of 2:15.24.
"I was really pleased with our 800 kids and how they ran technically," Kepler said. "They made very good moves when they could. I feel like their times could have been a little bit faster if it wasn't quite so windy today. Even though it was a windy afternoon, however, I thought that we executed those races very well."
Senior Destanae Howerton-Davis represented the Utes in the discus. Howerton-Davis recorded a throw measuring 157 feet, 2 inches to earn seventh overall.Â
In the 200, sophomore Alissa Atisme led the way for the Utes. Atisme competed in the section four for the Utes, where she recorded a time of 25.43 seconds to claim fourth in the section.

Sophomore Ilse Kaaja continued to establish herself as a force to be reckoned with in the hammer throw. Competing at the Stanford Invitational, Kaaja was crowned event champion after recording a throw of 189 feet, 8 inches. Aoife Hickey also competed in the event for the Utes, finishing fourth after throwing a distance of 183 feet, 8 inches.
Also at the Stanford Invitational, Feeny recorded a new personal-best time of 4:20.65 to claim fourth in section four. Feeny's performance now lands her a spot on the Utah all-time list, where she now ranks third.
In the javelin, sophomore Megan Glasmann recorded another top-five performance. Glasmann threw a distance of 155 feet, 1 inch to earn third overall.
The 10,000 featured an NCAA regional qualifying time by senior Rebekah Winterton. Winterton crossed the line in 33:57.31 to earn ninth in section two.
