SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah head softball coach Amy Hogue has announced that two players will be added to the 2015-2016 roster with the addition of Aubrey Peterson and Sarita Leon.
Peterson was a four-year letterwinner for Cascade High School (Everett, Wash.), where she played outfield for the Bruins. The incoming freshman played travel ball for the Washington Lady Hawks, as well.
Leon, a 2012 graduate from California High School (San Ramon, Calif.), will join the Utes as a junior next season after transferring from Spokane Community College and also playing at Ohlone Community College as a freshman. Leon, who plays middle infield, played travel ball with the San Jose Lady Sharks.
"Both of these young ladies have been relentless in their pursuit of a spot on a Division I roster," said Hogue. "Their desire to compete at the highest level and not give up on their dreams is what stood out to me in the recruiting process.
"Aubrey is a true outfielder who will be looking to help us replace the seniors we graduated in our outfield and Sarita is an infielder who will be a true utility player for us. We look forward to their arrival next fall."
Utah is coming off a 36-19 season where the Utes finished fourth in the Pac-12 (12-11) and earned the program's first NCAA Regional Tournament appearance since 2006. The Utes finished second in the Knoxville Regional, going 2-2 in the double-elimination tournament.
