WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Utah freshman pitcher Jayson Rose has been named as an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection, as chosen by the Pac-12 head coaches.
Rose led Utah with 68 strikeouts, which tied for eighth in the league at the end of the regular season. He had a team-leading 3.54 ERA as Utah's Sunday starter. He was 3-5 on the year for the Utes.
Rose was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week on March 30 after striking out 11 in Utah's 3-2 win over 14th-ranked California. He also earned wins over Stanford and Kansas. Rose had a strong outing to end the year at Washington, pitching 6 2/3 shutout innings with eight strikeouts. He also struck out eight against Nicholls State. His first career appearance as a Ute was six innings of one-hit ball at Sacramento State. Rose also allowed just two hits with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings at 22nd-ranked Oregon State.
Rose also played in 12 games in the outfield for the Utes.
