SALT LAKE CITY - Several incoming Utah baseball players finished out their high school careers with a variety of honors.
DaShawn Keirsey earned first-team All-Grossmont Hills League and first-team All-East County honors at Helix Charter High School. He hit .333 for the year with three triples and 19 RBI and had a 3.16 ERA on the mound, going 5-2 with 51 strikeouts.
Chandler Anderson ended his career at Park City High School as a three-time first-team all-state player. He hit .527 as a senior with 35 RBI and 24 stolen bases and helped lead Park City to the Region 10 title. Anderson was named to the 3A All-Star Game and was a second-team USA Today All-USA Utah Baseball Team selection.
Jacob Portaro hit .437 his senior year at Centennial High School with 51 RBI, six triples and 10 home runs, and was named first-team all-state, first-team all-Sunset Region and first-team all-Southern Nevada.
Jared Denning was the All-Napa County Baseball Player of the Year, the Co-Solano County Athletic Conference MVP and the team MVP at American Canyon High School. He hit .500 as a senior with 24 RBI, nine doubles and six triples, and went 3-5 on the mound with a 2.71 ERA and 69 strikeouts.
Zack Moeller, who helped lead San Benito High School to a Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division championship, earned first-team all-league honors at catcher.
Michael Reuling earned first-team All-Bay Area honors by Prepsbythebay.com and was a second-team all-East Bay selection at De La Salle High School. He hit .360 during his senior season.
David Appleby helped lead Agoura High School to the Marmonte League championship. Agoura also won the National Classic Tournament.
Connor McNally earned all-league honors at Campolindo High School.
Ellis Kelly hit .286 with a .384 slugging percentage and 10 stolen bases during his sophomore season at Lamar Community College. He was an all-region player in 2014.
Grant Smith had a 4.35 ERA with a 2-4 record in 10 appearances (six starts, 37 innings pitched) during his senior year. He had 39 strikeouts. Smith was an all-state player as a junior.
Also joining the Utes is Riley Ottesen, who originally signed with Utah out of high school in 2012 before serving an LDS church mission in Japan. Ottesen was the 2013 Deseret News Mr. Baseball.
Keirsey and Moeller are currently playing summer ball with the Utah Marshalls, while Anderson and Denning are with the Utah Bucks. McNally is with the Zoots Baseball team while Reuling is with the Danville Hoots. Kelly is with the Okotoks Dawgs.
