SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah men's basketball team released its 2015-16 schedule on Thursday, following the Pac-12 office's release of the entire conference slate. The schedule features the Runnin' Utes playing 18 home contests, six games against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams and a record 16 games televised on the ESPN family of networks.
All 32 regular season games will be televised this year with 14 games on the Pac-12 Network, 16 on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU and two scheduled to air on Fox Sports 1. The 16 games televised on the ESPN family of networks is a school record, surpassing last season's total of 14 regular season games aired on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.
Utah will host Night with the Runnin' Utes on Wednesday, Oct. 21, prior to opening the 2015-16 campaign with an exhibition contest against Cal State Monterey Bay at 6 p.m. MT on Thursday, Nov. 5 and televised on the Pac-12 Network. The Utes then open non-conference play with Southern Utah on Friday, Nov. 13 at 8:30 p.m. MT, with the game also scheduled to air on the Pac-12 Network.
Utah will remain at home to host San Diego State on Monday, Nov. 16, which is one of five games taking place as part of the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. The Utes and Aztecs will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. MT and the contest will be aired on ESPN2.
The Utes will then join seven teams - Butler, Miami, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri Sate, Temple and Texas Tech - in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, which will be held Nov. 19, 20 and 22 at Coliseo Roberto Clemente. Utah will open the tournament against Texas Tech on Friday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. MT with the game to be televised on ESPN2. Utah's contest against Miami or Mississippi State, on Saturday, Nov. 20 will be aired on ESPNU and Sunday's final game will be televised on one of ESPN's family network stations.
Utah returns home to host Idaho State (Nov. 27), BYU (Dec. 2) and IPFW (Dec. 5), with all three contests airing on the Pac-12 Network, before traveling to Wichita, Kan., to take on Wichita State at Intrust Bank Arena on Saturday, Dec. 12. The game will tip-off at 2:30 p.m. CT and will be carried on ESPN2.
Following a home game against Savannah State on Dec. 16 (televised on Pac-12 Network), Utah will play Duke at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Dec. 19, with the contest to be televised on ESPN. Utah then closes out non-conference action at home against Delaware State (Dec. 22) and College of Idaho (Dec. 28), with both games airing on the Pac-12 Network.
Utah's Pac-12 schedule features the Utes playing home and home series with California, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington and Washington State, while also welcoming Arizona and Arizona State to Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Utes will make road trips to UCLA and USC to round out the conference schedule.
Utah opens conference play with three games on the road, tipping off the calendar year at Stanford on Friday, Jan. 1 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPNU. The Utes then play at California on Sunday, Jan. 3 at 4:30 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network and close out the three-game road swing at Colorado on Friday, Jan. 8. The Utes and Buffs will tip-off at 7 p.m. MT and it marks the first of two televised games for the Utes on FS1.
The Utes' Pac-12 home-opener will be against Oregon on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network, followed by another home contest against Oregon State on Sun. Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. and carried live on ESPNU. Utah will then continue its stretch of playing a pair of away games, followed by a pair of home games over the next five weeks, beginning with road trips to Washington State (Jan. 21) and Washington (Jan. 24). Utah's game against the Cougars will be televised on FS1, while its match-up against the Huskies will air on ESPNU.
Home games against California (Jan. 27, ESPNU) and Stanford (Jan. 30, P-12 Network) will be followed with road contests at Oregon State (Feb. 4, ESPN2) and Oregon (Feb. 7, ESPN2/ESPNU). Utah then returns home to host Washington (Feb. 10, ESPN2) and Washington State (Feb. 14, Pac-12 Network) before heading to the Los Angeles area to face UCLA (Feb. 18, ESPN2) and USC (Feb. 21, Pac-12 Network) for the team's final two road games of the regular season.
The Utes will close out the regular season with three straight home games against Arizona State (Feb. 25), Arizona (Feb. 27) and Colorado (Mar. 5). Utah's contest against the Sun Devils will be televised on the Pac-12 Network, while facing the Wildcats on ESPN or ESPN2 and the Buffs on ESPNU.
The 2016 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament will take place Mar. 9-12 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The Pac-12 Network will televise a total of seven different games over the first three days of the event, while FS1 airs one quarterfinal game, a semifinal game and the championship contest.
