After leading the Utah baseball team to its first Pac-12 title, head coach
Bill Kinneberg has been named the recipient of the 2015-16 Don Reddish Award, presented annually to the coach of a sport other than football, men's and women's basketball and gymnastics who is deemed to have had the most successful season the previous year.
Â
The 2016 Pac-12 Coach of the Year, Kinneberg led Utah to a 19-11 league record as baseball became the first men's team to win a Pac-12 title since the Utes joined the conference in 2011-12. The Utes set a team record for games won in Pac-12 play, winning eight of its 10 conference series during the season. Utah defeated host Ole Miss in the first game of the Regional. Four were named to the All-Pac-12 first team, Utah's first selections since joining the league.
Â
Kinneberg also won the Don Reddish Award in 2009 after leading Utah to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1960 as the Utes won their first Mountain West Conference Tournament.
Â
Kinneberg is entering his 14th season at Utah and has won 300 games with the Utes. He has had seven players drafted in the first 10 rounds out of Utah, most notably two-time All-American C.J. Cron (2010-11), who recently completed his third season with the Los Angeles Angels.
Â
Reddish coached the men's swimming and diving team from 1955-90 and won 17 conference titles while compiling a dual-meet record of 265-83-6 (.701).
