The Utah Runnin' Utes (3-0, 0-0) host the UC Riverside Highlanders (1-2, 0-0) this Friday, Nov. 25, in a post-Thanksgiving contest in Salt Lake City. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Huntsman Center.

Utah moved to 3-0 on the season following a 94-51 over Coppin State at the Huntsman Center last Friday night.

JoJo Zamora lead a quartet of players in double figures with a game-high 22 points.
Lorenzo Bonam added 19 points,
Parker Van Dyke poured in 15 points and
Jake Connor added 11 points for the Utes.

Utah shot .484 percent (30-of-62) from the field, while limiting the Eagles to just a .255 percent (14-of-55) effort. The Utes were on fire from downtown, shooting .429 percent (12-of-28) on the evening. Van Dyke, Zamora and Connor led the way with three three-pointers each.

The Utes moved to 2-0 all-time against the Eagles with the win.

ABOUT UC RIVERSIDE
UC Riverside heads into Friday's contest having won its last game, a 96-50 victory over Fresno Pacific. The win snapped a two-game losing streak the Highlanders had opened the season with, following losses to Portland (71-55) and UNLV (74-62).

Friday's contest marks the third road game of the season for UCR. The Highlanders dropped the previous two road contests, as both losses to Portland and UNLV came on the road.

Malik Thames leads UCR in scoring with 12.3 points per game. He is shooting 37 percent from the field and 43 percent from the three-point arc. Dikymbe Martin (11.7 ppg) and Chance Murray (10.3) are both averaging double figures for the Highlanders this season.

Alex Larrson leads the team on the boards (7.7 rpg), while Martin leads the team in both assists (7) and steals (6).

KUZMA LEADING THE WAY
Junior
Kyle Kuzma leads all Utah players with 14.7 points per game over the first three contests. He leads the team in rebounds as well, averaging a double-double on the season with 12.0 boards per game.

Kuzma has dished out eight assists, tallied a pair of steals and has one blocked shot. He shoots 50 percent from the field, 33 percent from beyond the arc and 70 percent from the free throw line.

Kuzma's 14.7 ppg ranks 16th in the Pac-12, while his 12.0 boards per game ranks first in the league.

BONAM BACK IN BUSINESS
Senior
Lorenzo Bonam, who opened the season with just five points on 1-of-5 shooting, has gotten back to posting double-digit scoring efforts in the last two contests.

Bonam led Utah with 17 points (6-of-8 FG) in a win over Concordia and then followed with a 19-point effort (7-of-9 FG) in the Utes' victory over Coppin State last Friday night.

Bonam leads Utah with a 63.6 shooting percentage (14-of-22) and is shooting 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free throw line. His 63 percent effort from the field ranks among the top-five in the Pac-12, while his free throw percentage ranks among the top-15 overall.

CONNOR CONNECTS FROM DOWNTOWN
Sophomore
Jake Connor made the best of his 14 minutes of playing time in Utah's 94-51 win over Coppin State last Friday. Connor was 4-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc on the night as well.

Connor finished the game pouring in a career-high 11 points, easily surpassing his previous high of six points, which he scored against College of Idaho back on Dec. 28, 2015. The four field goals and three trey's are career-highs, as well.

VAN DYKE SET NEW CAREER HIGHS
Sophomore
Parker Van Dyke, who is returning to the court this season following a two year LDS Mission, set a new career-high with 15 points in Utah's win against Concordia back on Nov. 15. He then matched the same mark with another 15-point effort in his squad's victory over Coppin State last Friday.

Van Dyke ranks fourth on the team with 11.7 points per game average, but he leads all Utah players with seven three-pointers made. He ranks third in the Pac-12 with a 2.3 three-pointers made per game average.

ZAMORA SHINES IN WIN OVER COPPIN STATE
Junior transfer
JoJo Zamora did it all for the Utes in Utah's 94-51 win over the Eagles last Friday night. Zamora paced Utah's offense with a game-high 22 points, while connecting on 6-of-12 from the field, 3-of-6 from downtown and 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Zamora registered three rebounds, dished out two assists and tallied a pair of steals in the win as well. He heads into the week ranked third on the team with a 13.3 points per game average. He leads all Utah players with five assists on the young season.

CLAMPING DOWN ON DEFENSE
Utah limited NNU (Nov. 12) to under 17 percent shooting on the night, which included giving up just four field goals and a 11.8 percent effort from the Crusaders in the second half. Utah allowed just 17 points to NNU in the second half.

Utah limited the Crusaders to just 37 points in the game, tying the third-fewest points given up to an opponent since 1980. It is the lowest amount of points given up since yielding just 36 points to Air Force back on Jan. 14, 2009.

LEAGUE ANNOUNCES PRESEASON POLL
The Runnin' Utes were picked to finish eighth in the 2016-17 Pac-12 men's basketball preseason poll, the league office announced back on Oct. 21. Voted on by 27 different media members that cover the league, Utah garnered 142 points in the poll.

For the first time in league history, Oregon was chosen to win the league after receiving 23 first-place votes for a total of 320 points. Arizona received four first-place nods and 298 points for second, while UCLA (259 points), California (209 points) and Colorado (199 points) rounded out the top five. Washington (167 points) and USC (163 points) came in just ahead of the Utes in sixth and seventh place, respectively, while Oregon State (122 points), Stanford (119 points), Arizona State (78 points) and Washington State (30 points) rounded out the entire poll.

RUNNIN' UTES TO PARTICIPATE IN BEEHIVE CLASSIC
Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment has partnered with Utah, BYU, Utah State and Weber State to form a new men's college basketball showcase at Vivint Smart Home Arena, beginning in 2017.

The Beehive Classic, with Zions Bank as the title sponsor, will feature single-day, round-robin doubleheaders from 2017-19. Utah will open the classic against Utah State in 2017, followed with games against BYU in 2018 and Weber State in 2019.

BONAM TOURS AUSTRALIA WITH PAC-12 ALL-STARS
Utah's
Lorenzo Bonam was one of 12 Pac-12 student-athletes named to the Pac-12 Conference Men's Basketball All-Star Team that toured Australia for a series of cultural experiences and exhibition games against the Australia Men's National Team this past July.

Bonam and the Pac-12 All-Stars participated in two games against the Australia Men's National Team, as well as a third contest against a team from the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL).
Â
Bonam scored 16 points and tallied a pair of assists in the squad's scrimmage against the SEABL. He then followed with 12 points, three rebounds and an assist in the squad's first contest against Australia. Bonam then closed out the final game against Australia with nine points, two rebounds and three assists.

UP NEXT
Utah will have just a few days before returning to the court as the Runnin' Utes host Big East member Butler next Monday, Nov. 28 at the Huntsman Center. Tip-off between the Utes and Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m.

Monday's contest will mark just the third game played between Utah and Butler. Utah won the initial meeting between the two programs with a 95-66 win over the Bulldogs back in 1964. Butler won the last meeting between the two teams; a 74-62 victory over the Utes back in 2010 in Hawaii.
