SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team begins Pac-12 play this weekend at 19th-ranked Oregon, with the three-game series beginning Friday March 18.
Two games of the series will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks. The opening game on Friday will be televised at 7:00 p.m. PT. First pitch for Saturday's game will be at 2:00 p.m. PT, while the series closes on Sunday, March 20, with a contest on the Pac-12 Networks at 12:00 p.m. PT.
The Utes have gone 1-2 in their last three games. Utah split two games of a rain-shortened series against Saint Mary's and fell to BYU on Tuesday.
"We are set up pretty well for this week pitching-wise, so we'll see," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We've been playing four games a week up to this point so we are used to that."
Utah has gotten strong pitching recently from starters Jayson Rose, Dalton Carroll and Josh Lapiana. Rose struck out 10 in game one against Saint Mary's and is tied for sixth in the Pac-12 with 28 strikeouts. Carroll allowed just one hit in game two against Saint Mary's. In relief, Dylan Drachler and Riley Ottesen each have a save, while Trenton Stoltz has not given up an earned run in six appearances this year.
At the plate, Dallas Carroll is on a seven-game hitting streak. Hunter Simmons has reached base in Utah's last seven games.
Oregon is ranked 19th by Baseball America and 21st by D1Baseball. The Ducks are 8-5 on the season but were recently swept by 15th-ranked Mississippi State.
