ON DECK
Utah welcomes Stanford for a three-game series at Dumke Family Softball Stadium. The Utes will sponsor Power of Pink Night in conjunction with Student Night on Friday, Youth Night on Saturday and Sunday is Bark at the Park with all dogs welcome.
UTAH NOTES
- Utah has won 24 of its last 32 contests and owns the No. 26 RPI in the nation. Eight of the Pac-12's nine teams are ranked in the top 35
- Midway through Pac-12 play, Utah leads the league in batting (.321), slugging (.541) and stolen bases (16), ranks second in homers (15) and third in on-base percentage (.404).
- Utah currently ranks third in the Pac-12 with a 2.54 earned run average. The Utes have only allowed 13 homers, fewest in the Pac-12, and 108 runs, second fewest in the conference.
- Defensively, the Utes are second in the Pac-12 with a .973 fielding percentage. Anissa Urtez leads the league in fielding assists and both Kristen Stewart and Hannah Flippen rank among the top five.
THIS WEEK IN SOFTBALL
- The Utes capped a sweep of No. 22 Arizona State on Sunday with a 6-5 walk-off win. Bridget Castro knocked in the deciding run as Kristen Stewart went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and three driven in.
- On Sunday, Miranda Viramontes allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings to pick up the victory in a 3-1 contest. Katie Donovan notched her second save by striking out three of the final five batters.
- On Saturday, Hannah Flippen went 2-for-2 with her 12th homer, two runs and a career-high four RBI in a 10-2 Ute win. Ally Dickman and Kay Kay Fronda were a combined 6-for-6 with three runs scored and three driven in.
UTE PAIR HONORED BY PAC-12
Katie Donovan was named Pitcher of the Week and Kay Kay Fronda was selected Player of the Week by the conference offices.
Donovan earned a pair of wins this past week against Weber State and No. 22 ASU. She also notched the save for the Utes in a 3-1 win over the Sun Devils.
Donovan's 1.99 ERA puts her third in the Pac-12, with opponents batting .231 (6th). She also rates fifth in innings pitched and sixth in strikeouts.
Donovan was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week twice last season and this is her first Pitcher of the Week award. She becomes the first Utah pitcher since Sammy Cordova (May 5, 2014) to win this honor from the conference.
Fronda led the Utes in a number of categories this past week including hits (4), batting (.667), slugging (1.500), on-base percentage (.571), total bases (9) and home runs as the team improved to 26-13, 7-4 in the Pac-12.
She becomes Utah's first Player of the Week this season. Junior second baseman Hannah Flippen was a two-time winner of the award last season.
Donovan and Fronda join freshman Ally Dickman as Ute players to have received weekly honors from the Pac-12 this season.
FLIPPEN NAMED ESPN'S NATIONAL POW
Utah junior second baseman Hannah Flippen was named the NCAA National Player of the Week by ESPNW on March 30.
Flippen, a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American as a freshman, is a two-time NFCA All-Pacific Region selection as well as a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree and a Pac-12 All-Academic selection.
She currently ranks third among Pac-12 players in home runs and total bases, third in stolen bases, fifth in runs scored, sixth in slugging and walks, seventh in batting average and eighth in on-base percentage
In Pac-12 play, she leads the league with a .533 batting average, a 1.367 slugging percentage, a .689 on-base percentage, 41 total bases, seven home runs and six stolen bases.

The Utes have played 16 contests against teams ranked in the top 35 of the latest USA Softball Poll
In fact, 22 of Utah's 40 games this season have been played against teams with a top-50 RPI.
Utah will play nine former NCAA Champions during the regular season, most of any other team in the nation.
