SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Softball completed the sweep of Stanford this afternoon, 9-0. The Utes earned their 30th victory of the season by winning their seventh-straight Pac-12 contest.
Delilah Pacheco, Bridget Castro and Ally Dickman each had a pair of hits for Utah. While Dickman cleared the bases with a double, Shelby Pacheco and Kay Kay Fronda each drove in a pair.
Katie Donovan and Miranda Viramontes combined on the shutout, Utah's 12th of the season. The sophomores allowed just two hits, a pair of singles, over their five innings of work.
All Utah needed was the first inning as it scored all nine runs en route to victory. The first 10 batters reached base as the Utes had their best offensive inning of the season.
Anissa Urtez got Utah on the board with a RBI single and with the bases loaded, Dickman smacked a double to center that cleared the bases for a 4-0 lead.
After a couple more Utes got on base, Shelby Pacheco doubled to left and scored a pair. Fronda followed with a single through the right side to push two more across, extending the Utah lead to 8-0. One batter later, a wild pitch scored Fronda for the final margin.
Utah heads to Washington next weekend with the first game slated for a 7 p.m. PT first pitch on Friday. All three contests will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
