SALT LAKE CITY - Junior college transfer Tim Coleman has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at the University of Utah next season, head coach Larry Krystkowiak announced this week.
Coleman joins Salt Lake Community College transfer Tyler Rawson, who signed a NLI to play for the Runnin' Utes just last month, along with fall signees Jayce Johnson, Devon Daniels and Jojo Zamora.
"Tim will bring an extra level of toughness to our program," said Krystkowiak. "He is a very talented guard with high leadership qualities. He dealt with some injuries last season, but tried to play through them. We are excited about getting him on campus and joining the Ute family."
Coleman, a 6-1 guard originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, will transfer to Utah from Lee College, which is located out of Baytown, Texas. Coleman scored 14.5 points per game and shot 30.7 percent from the three-point arc as a sophomore for the Runnin' Rebels this past season. He averaged 3.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 13 games before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Coleman notched a season-high 30 points against Howard College back on Nov. 1. He was 9-of-16 from the field, which included a 6-of-12 effort from beyond the three-point line. Coleman later scored 25 points on 10-of-25 shooting from the field against Baltimore City Community College back on Dec. 30. Coleman posted double-figure scoring efforts in nine of the 13 games he played in this past season.
Coleman graduated from Withrow High School in the spring of 2014. He averaged just under 24 points per game his senior season at WHS.
