SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah Director of Men's Basketball Operations,
Phil Cullen, has accepted a front office position with the San Antonio Spurs, head coach
Larry Krystkowiak announced today.

"I am very happy for Phil and would like to thank him for both his commitment and energy that he brought to our basketball program," said Krystkowiak. "He will be working for one of the most respected franchise's in the NBA, along with one of the best general manager's in the business. We wish Phil the very best with his new endeavor."

Cullen recently completed his only season as the Utes' director of operations after serving the previous three seasons as Utah's director of player development. Prior to his return to Utah, Cullen had served as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University.

Cullen played for Utah from 1998-2002 and helped the Utes to a 90-35 record during that span, including a 28-5 mark in his freshman year. One of the Mountain West Conference's top three-point shooters during his career, Cullen can still be found in the Utah record books ranked seventh in career three-pointers made (153) and three-pointers attempted (396).

A search for Cullen's successor will begin immediately.
