The Utah baseball team will begin its fall practice season on Sept. 19, going through Oct. 28.
Â
"In the next 4-5 weeks we want to get most of our team offenses and defenses installed, get great evaluation on not only the returning guys but the new guys, to see where they fit and try to start molding this team with roles, and by the end of October we hope that we have a ball club that's ready to play in a competition," Utah head coach
Bill Kinneberg said. "We want to stay healthy and get guys back in playing shape."
Â
The Utes have been working through individual practices since school began in August. Â
Â
"It's been great," Kinneberg said on individual workouts. "We've seen a great work ethic with a lot of progression. I am particularly happy with the incoming freshmen and how they have bought in to the work style and work ethic. They've done a very nice job there and at this point very happy with their ability as well."
Â
Utah will hold several scrimmages throughout the fall season. A tentative schedule is below.
Â
Utah is coming off its first Pac-12 Championship. Utah returns two first-team All-Pac-12 players in junior pitcher
Jayson Rose and sophomore outfielder
DaShawn Keirsey, Jr., as well as honorable mention selections
Josh Rose and
Dylan Drachler.
