First honor for Ute outfielder
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah outfielder Alyssa Barrera was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for her performances on the field at the Mary Nutter Classic.
The Chino Hills, California native helped the Utes earn three wins including victories over No. 13 Tennessee and No. 7 LSU. She led the team with four runs scored, a .438 batting average and also slugged .563. She has reached base safely in all 13 games to start her collegiate career and opened with an 11-game hit streak.
The Utes are back in action with four games, Fri.-Sat., at the St. George Desert Classic.
