THE GAME
The Utah Runnin' Utes (10-4, 2-1) will wrap-up its two-game home swing hosting the Arizona schools when they face off with No. 4-ranked Arizona State (12-2, 0-2) this Sunday, Jan. 7. Tip-off between the Utes and Sun Devils is set for 6 p.m. MT at the Huntsman Center.

LAST TIME OUT
Sedrick Barefield scored 23 points and the Runnin' Utes managed to erase a 17-point deficit, but the comeback fell short in a 94-82 loss to the No. 14-ranked Arizona Wildcats on Thursday. Along with Barefield's 20-point effort, Utah had four players in all score in double figures.
David Collette added 19 points,
Tyler Rawson totaled 16 points and
Justin Bibbins chipped in with 14 points.

Bibbins led the team with eight assists and Barefield dished out six assists on the evening.
Donnie Tillman, who made his return to the court on Thursday, led the team with six rebounds and three steals.

Barefield scored 20 of his season-high 23 points in the second half to register his second 20-point game of the season overall. It was Barefield's first 20-point game since scoring 22 points in the season-opener. Meanwhile, Collette has posted double-digit scoring efforts in the last five games and for the 10th time overall this season.

SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
The Sun Devils opened the season winning its first 12 games and after opening the regular-season unranked in the AP Poll, Arizona State ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation. Following the 12-game winning streak, however, the Sun Devils have opened Pac-12 play at 0-2 after falling to in-state rival Arizona last week and dropping a road game to Colorado on Thursday. The Sun Devils led by as many as 12 points but eventually fell 80-81 to the Buffs in overtime.

Tra Holder led the way with 24 points as one of five players to score in double figures for the Sun Devils. Romello White added 10 points and 11 boards for a double-double, while Kodi Justice chipped in with 16 points and a team-best 4-of-10 effort from the three-point line.

The Sun Devils moved to just 1-2 in true road games on the season, but its lone win came against then No. 2-ranked Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The back-to-back losses are coming off the heels of ASU's second-longest winning streak (12 games) in school history.

SERIES HISTORY WITH THE SUN DEVILS
Utah has won five straight and six of the past seven meetings, while also leading the all-time series 32-20 overall against the Sun Devils. The Utes are 7-3 against ASU since joining the Pac-12, which includes a 5-0 mark when playing the Sun Devils in Salt Lake City.

ASU's last win over Utah was a 79-75 victory over the Utes in Tempe back on Jan. 23, 2014. ASU, who is just 5-19 when facing the Utes on the road, last defeated Utah in Salt Lake City back on Jan. 11, 1975. Utah has since won 10 straight when the Sun Devils on its home court.

FACING AP TOP-5 RANKED TEAMS
Utah welcomes No. 4-ranked Arizona State to the Huntsman Center on Sunday, which will mark just the third time a team ranked No. 5 or higher has played the Utes in Salt Lake City over the previous five seasons. Utah is 10-34 all-time when facing a top-five ranked team, which includes a 3-8 mark against the No. 4-ranked team, and a 5-4 overall record when playing top-five teams at home.

Utah has dropped its last two home meetings against top-five ranked teams - No. 4 UCLA last season and No. 4 Arizona back on Feb. 19, 2014. The last time Utah defeated a top-five team was back on Dec. 30, 2002, when the Utes stunned No. 1-ranked Alabama, 51-49. Overall, Utah has dropped nine straight games to a top-five ranked team.

UTAH IN PAC-12 PLAY
Utah is 56-55 (.504) all-time in seven seasons in the Pac-12 Conference. The Utes have won a school-best 13 league games, which came during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. Utah finished in a tie for second place and then took sole possession of second place, respectively. The Utes went 11-7 and finished in fourth-place in league play last season.

Utah will be back on the road next week facing both Los Angeles-based schools. Utah opens the week at UCLA next Thursday, Jan. 11 and will close out the week at USC on Sunday, Jan. 14. Both contests will be televised live on the ESPN family of networks.
