SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Soccer scored quickly on Saturday afternoon and notched a fourth-straight shutout in a 2-0 win over Oregon State.
In the seventh minute,
Ireland Dunn was able to get to the end line and send a ball into the penalty area for
Makayla Christensen. With her back to goal, the freshman left it for Van der Veen who rifled home her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Â
Four minutes later, the Utes doubled their lead. A poor back pass by an Oregon State defender left Dunn in 1v1 with the opposing goalkeeper. She capitalized for her fourth tally of the season and a 2-0 lead.

Â
"We started the game with fantastic energy and commitment and were rewarded with a pair of goals," head coach
Rich Manning said. "he attackers did a great job of finishing. Ireland and Po have played at a high level during conference play and it continued today. Makayla also did a great job of holding up the play and finding teammates."
Â
Carly Nelson managed to make a pair of saves for the Utes and registered another Pac-12 blanking. It was her sixth of the season and 12th of her career. This was Utah's fourth shutout in a row, the first time they have accomplished a run like this in Pac-12 play. The next longest shutout streak dates back to 2006 (9 games).
Â
The reigning Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week, Nelson ranks atop the Pac-12 with a .909 save percentage and four shutouts in league play. She also ranks second with 59 saves and third with a goals-against average of 0.57.
Â
Utah controlled the tempo in the first half and it was more of the same in the second stanza. The Utes out-shot the Beavers, 12-1, but were unlucky on adding to their advantage.
"Our energy dropped during the first half and we challenged the team to refocus at the break," Manning added. "I thought the players responded well because we controlled the second half and created great chances. We were disappointed to not get another goal but we played with energy and defended well."Â
A Dunn cross that Van der Veen might have got a touch on, skimmed off the near post in the 70
th minute and moments later,
Anna Escobedo's rocket caromed off the crossbar.
