The Utes collect six top-10 finishes.
SACRAMENTO, Calif – Senior Grace Englund led the Utes with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter race as the Utah track and field team wrapped up the weekend of competition at the Sacramento State Open on Saturday.
Englund finished the 800 in a time of 2:09.59. Also competing for the Utes was junior Sadie Wassum and freshman Whitney Hessler. Wassum placed eighth with a time of 2:11.44 and Hessler earned 14th with a time of 2:14.12. Englund and Hessler both recorded new personal bests.
In the 400-meter dash, freshman Jackie Martin continues her impressive freshman campaign with a fifth-place finish in a time of 56.52. With this time Martin earned a new personal best. Senior Mesa Weidle also competed alongside Martin finishing in sixth with a time of 58.08. Weidle also competed in the 200-meter race where she finished in seventh place with a time of 25.83.
Junior Eliza Hansen competed in the high jump for the Utes where she took sixth place with a height of 5'4.25" (1.63 meters).
The Utes will be back in action next weekend, May 12-13, in Stanford, Calif., for the Pac-12 Track and Field Championships.
