Utahutes.com sat down with Britain Covey for a round of 20 questions.Â
Q: How did your interest in football begin?
A:Â It began as I watched my oldest brother Stephen play quarterback at Timpview, and going out to play quarterback-receiver with my dad and brothers.
Q: You were a multi-sport athlete in high school, what made you decide to stick with football over the other sports?
A:Â Not many people will recruit at 5-8 point guard, otherwise I'd be playing basketball!
Q: What made you choose Utah for college?
A:Â A combination of many things. Utah was my first offer, the program was on the rise in the PAC-12, Coach Whittingham, watching Kaelin Clay and Reggie Dunn, and other reasons including wanting to serve a mission after playing a year. It just felt right in the end.
Q: A lot of athletes leave for their LDS mission before college, what was the experience like doing a year of school and then going?
A:Â Wonderful! That year of college helped me grow a lot before my mission. And my mission was the best two years of my life! I loved serving and teaching the people of Chile.
Q: How has the transition been being back as a Division I athlete after being gone for two years?
A:Â It's been a process and I've had to be patient. Some days I feel like I run a 4.4 40-yard dash, others I feel like I run a 6.2. But I feel back up to 100-percent now.
Q: Who is your biggest influence in life on and off the field?
A:Â My Dad and my older sister McKinlee because they're the best people I know and genuinely care about everyone, and they know what's most important.
Q: Being an all-state quarterback in high school, what was it like to earn freshman All-American as a receiver and punt returner in your first year?
A:Â It was really cool. I grew close with a lot of the guys on that 2015 team. Sometimes I miss playing quarterback, maybe I'll switch positions and give Tyler a run for his money. Â
Q: If you could play and go pro in any other sport, what would it be and why?
A:Â Golf and it's not even close.
Q: What are you looking forward to most this season?
A:Â Our receiving core. We've got a lot of talent and a lot of depth, and there's a great family feel to the bunch. We push each other and are excited to prove a point.
Q: What is your favorite part about playing football at Utah?
A:Â Hanging with the guys. Playing at Rice Eccles. I also love running gassers after practice...
Q: Where is your favorite place to eat in Salt Lake City?
A:Â To be honest, I still feel completely lost in Salt Lake and haven't been to many places, so I'm open to suggestions. But I love The Melting Pot.
Q: If you could have a super power, what would it be?
A:Â I would be Chase Hansen.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A:Â I don't 3-putt.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A:Â It's a toss up between Warrior and Tangled.Â
Q: What is a holiday that doesn't exist that you would like to create?
A:Â I don't know, maybe Donovan Mitchell or Joe Ingles day.Â
Q: What did you want to be growing up?
A:Â In love.
Q: If you could take three things with you to a desert island, what would they be?
A:Â Fishing rod. Future wife. My scriptures.
Q: If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
A:Â Good with kids.
Q: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
A:Â Blackberry.
Q: If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
A:Â I'd probably get on Noah's Ark and just fish.Â
