Kayler Yates is a shortstop from St. George, Utah.

He is a four-year letterman at Dixie High School, who has a .333 career average with 10 doubles, three home runs and a .437 OBP. Yates hit .437 his junior season and had a walk-off hit to win the 2018 State Championship. He was also a big part of the team that won the State Championship in 2017 as well. Â

Why did you choose Utah and what other schools were recruiting you?
I chose Utah because of the amazing campus, awesome coaching staff and the opportunity to play baseball in the Pac-12.

Who has been the most influential person or people in your life and why?
My parents have been the most influential people in my life because they work incredibly hard to give me every opportunity possible to get me to where I am in my baseball career.

What is your favorite baseball memory so far?
My favorite baseball memory so far is winning back-to-back state championships with Dixie High School or playing on Team USA in Taipei, Taiwan and winning the World Championship.
What are you most excited about in playing baseball for the Utes?
I am excited to play against some of the best competition in the country playing in the Pac-12. I look forward to being part of a great program and hopefully being able to get to Omaha.

What goals do you have while in college as well as after college?
I would hope to have the opportunity to play professional baseball after college baseball ends, but when baseball ends for me I would like to attend the Dental school at the University of Utah.
