BOULDER, Colo. – The Utah track and field team only competed in one race to start the weekend for them at the Colorado Invitational on Friday night. Junior
Sarah Feeny competed for the Utes in the women's seeded mile race where she captured a second-place finish with a time of 4:46.03.Â
Â
"It was really a terrific race, challenged for the lead with a Colorado gal that ran and Feeny really asserted herself well and got on pace early," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "I really give her a ton of credit, you know when it really got tough she fought hard and really battled the last five to 600-meters. You could tell the extra altitude was affecting her but she fought through it and really held herself together."Â
Â
This is the fastest recorded mile time of the season for the Utes. The fastest time was formerly held by freshman
Scarlet Dale who ran a 5:00.42 mile at the Ed Jacoby Invite back on Jan. 19th.Â
Â
Utah will be back in action tomorrow starting at 1:50 p.m. with the women's mile run where the Utes will have 10 athletes competing in the race.Â
Â
"We are really excited and this was a great start for what we hope is a great weekend. We have a lot of races tomorrow, particularly in the mile and 800, so hopefully we will have some more great results but a great start to this weekend," Kepler said. Â
