Runnin' Utes Add Wenzel to 2019-20 Roster

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's basketball program announced the addition of incoming freshman Brendan Wenzel, who will join the Runnin' Utes' roster for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
"Brendan has very good size and is an elite shooter," said Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak. "Adding a high-caliber shooter was a priority and it will become a great asset to our program."

A true freshman out of Helotes, Texas, Wenzel is a 6-6, 180-pound guard that will graduate from O'Connor High School (San Antonio) this spring. He ranked as the No. 18th overall player in the state of Texas, according to Rivals/TexasHoops.com.

This past season as a senior, Wenzel averaged 24.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game. He shot 41 percent from three-point range and was an 87 percent shooter from the free throw line. He was named to the 2019 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Class 6A All-State First Team and was named to the San Antonio Express News Super Team. Wenzel helped lead the Panthers to a 24-10 overall record this past season, which included a trip to the state playoffs where he averaged more than 25 points per game.
