After rolling through the opening weekend 3-0 and beating two ranked teams, Utah will hit the road for the first time this season at Utah State.

PROGRAM HISTORY
Beth Launiere scheduled a tough non-conference schedule to challenge her team and they passed the first test going 3-0 the first weekend against No. 7 Kentucky, No. 23 Cal Poly and Saint Mary's.

It is the first time in program history that Utah has beaten two ranked teams on the opening weekend of the season.

After knocking off two ranked opponents, Utah found themselves in the rankings entering the second week of the season at 19.

BERK IS BACK
After missing most of the 2018 season with an injury, middle Blocker
Berkeley Oblad is back for a fifth season.

She only played in six games in 2018, but was named an AVCA All-American honorable mention in 2017 after totaling 300 kills and 142 blocks.

Oblad gives the Utes three All-Americans returning for the 2019 season along with Drews and Koerber.
Â
In her first weekend back on the court, she played like an All-American leading the team with 23.0 blocks. She led the team in all three matches having 8.0, 5.0 and 10.0 blocks in each of the matches. It was the second time in her career she's had 10.0 blocks in a match.

Oblad also had the third most kills on the team with 26.

KOERBER HAS HUGE OPENING WEEKEND
Junior outside hitter
Kenzie Koerber had a monster opening weekend and was named MVP of the Utah Volleyball Classic.
Â
She finished the weekend with 39 kills, 28 digs and 15.0 blocks. Koerber posted career highs in kills and digs against Cal Poly with 19 kills and 15 digs.

DREWS PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
Second Team All-American
Dani Drews led the team in kills through the weekend and got better as the weekend went along.Â
Â
Against Cal Poly, she led the way with 20 kills and 19 digs to help keep the Utes undefeated in the opening weekend. Last season, she had nine 20-kill matches.

NEXT UP
Utah will play in the Utah Valley Classic beginning Friday, September 6. They will play UC Davis and Portland State that Friday and then take on Utah Valley on Saturday, September 7 at 5 p.m.
