"I was stoked," Jager said. "I really wanted to win today but Magnus [Boee] from CU made a super bold move and skied the whole race without kick wax and double poled up all the hills and I just wasn't going to be able to hang with that pace. He was super strong today! I'm happy with where my shape is at and hoping for even better days tomorrow in the pursuit and in future weekends."
Utah has 514 points, increasing its lead after alpine gained it the lead two weeks ago during the alpine portion of the meet. Colorado is second (448) with Denver third (410).
The DU Invite closes with a pursuit freestyle race, with starting times determined based on their finish times in today's race. The men's 10-km race begins at 9 a.m. with the women's 7.5-km race to follow.
"It was another good day for us under the sunny Colorado skies!" head coach
Miles Havlick said. "The courses here in Minturn are quite difficult with steep climbs and many tight corners but we handled it quite well. It was a big day for Guro with her 15th collegiate win! Just incredible! Tomorrow's pursuit will be very exciting, the team is primed for another great day!"
"Another very good day for the Utes," Director of Skiing
Fredrik Landstedt said. "Some new snow and temperatures close to 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) made waxing a little bit tricky. Magnus from CU who won chose to go without kick wax and double pole the race. He was super strong today. Luke had a super strong race in second. Guro is just incredible and her win today was another show of strength! Tomorrow's pursuit start will be a fun change and a great chance to fight for the top spots."
