The Utah baseball team begins Pac-12 play at No. 7 Arizona State. The Utes are coming in after taking a series over Minnesota on the road in U.S. Bank Stadium.

Overall, Arizona State leads the Pac-12 with 20 home runs. The Sun Devils are once again led by first baseman Spencer Torkelson who is hitting .340 and has six home runs.

After dropping the first game of the series, Utah caught fire at the plate scoring six runs on Saturday and a season high 17 runs on Sunday.

In those two games, they had nine extra-base hits while also drawing 23 walks.

In the game on Sunday, every Utah starter had at least one hit and seven of the nine players had multiple hits in the game.

PIERCE HAS CAREER GAME
Left handed pitcher
Riley Pierce shut Minnesota down throwing 6.0 innings and striking out a career high nine batters.

The junior only gave up four hits to the Golden Gophers and allowed zero runs.

His previous high in strikeouts was five coming against Western Carolina in 2019 and this was the fifth time he has pitched at least 6.0 innings.

ZAVOLTA BRINGS A SPARK
Vinny Zavolta started in all three games last weekend in left field and was a mainstay on the bases for Utah.

He went 5-10 at the plate last weekend and scored six runs and had two doubles.

On the season, the junior is hitting .400 with a 1.291 OPS. He's started in seven games this season

Utah will finally play at home after 16 games on the road. They will host Utah Valley on Tuesday, March 17 and then Nevada that weekend for a three-game series.
