Raised in Littleton, Colorado, the twins are now teammates with the San Francisco Giants as Taylor Rogers signed with the club on December 28, 2022. He completed his seventh MLB season in 2022, spending six years with the Minnesota Twins (2016-21) before heading to the National League in 2022 with the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers. His twin brother, Tyler, made his MLB debut in 2019 and completed his fourth season with the Giants in 2022.
On Sept. 23, 2020, the duo each earned wins in relief, becoming the first set of twins in MLB history to record a win on the same day. Earlier that year - on July 29, 2020 - Tyler earned his first win of the season while Taylor picked up a save—the first such occurrence for a set of MLB brothers in 22 years.
Â
Taylor Rogers earned his first MLB All-Star recognition in 2021. He made 31 saves in his 2022 season in San Diego and Milwaukee, finishing the year ranked No. 5 in the National League in saves. He also had the fifth-most saves in the American League (9) with Minnesota during the pandemic-altered 2020 campaign, and his 30 saves in 2019 was tied for fourth-most in the league. He pitched collegiately at Kentucky, where Rogers was coached by now-Utah skipper
Gary Henderson.
Â
Rogers, who comes from four generations of firefighters, hosted a dinner for Minneapolis firefighters in 2019. For his continued efforts in the community, the Minnesota Twins presented him the Carl R. Pohlad Outstanding Community Service Award in 2021.
Â
Known for his submarine delivery, Tyler Rogers led the National League in appearances both in 2020 (29) and 2021 (80). The Giants' setup man owns 16 career saves and 60 holds, entering the 2023 season with a 2.94 career earned-run average. He spent his college career at Austin Peay, being named a finalist for the 2013 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award. Rogers had 23 saves that year with the Governors, tying the previous NCAA single-season record. He went on to be named All-America by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA, which made Rogers the first player in program history to receive multiple All-America awards in one season.
