SAN FRANCISCO – After recording the first hat trick by a Utah Soccer player in more than six years on Sunday,
Katie O'Kane has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
In a 4-2 win over Oregon, O'Kane tallied the first goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 18th minute, then broke a 1-1 tie in the 59th minute to give Utah the lead for good. She added one more score in the 85th minute to salt away her team's first conference victory of 2023. O'Kane's season total of six goals is the most on the Utah roster and also has her in the top five in the Pac-12, while her 50 total shots are the league's third-highest total.
The senior from Seattle is the first Ute to receive one of the Pac-12's weekly awards since
Maryn Granger was named defensive player of the week in September of 2022 and she's Utah's first offensive player of the week winner since Hailey Skolmoski received the honor on Aug. 30, 2016.
O'Kane and her teammates are gearing up for a week that includes two home matches, starting on Thursday night at 6 p.m. when the Utes host California.
