AGAINST THE EVERGREEN STATE
Since joining the Pac-12 in 2011-12, Utah battled both Washington State and Washington on the same weekend at home nine times while holding an impressive 16-2 record. The only years where the Utes didn't sweep the Washington schools at home were in 2018-19 and 2011-12 when they split the weekend with the Cougars and Huskies. Both wins those two years came against WSU.
LAST TIME OUT
It took the Runnin' Utes a little time to get things in rhythm but when things started to click with less than 6:00 minutes to go in the first half before completely shutting down Bellarmine in the second half of the contest. Leading 37-26 at the break, Utah's defense continued to suffocate the Knights and held them to just 17 points on six field-goals in the second frame to secure the lopsided 85-43 win. The Utah defense forced 23 turnovers and converted them into a 28-7 advantage in points off turnovers. Additionally, all 12 available Utes saw action on the floor with 11-of-12 finding themselves in the scoring column.
UP NEXT
The Utes will close out the opening weekend of Pac-12 action with Washington on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 4 p.m. (MT) before ringing in the new year as AJ Kanell and Don MacLean guide fans through the action on Pac-12 Networks.
LOOKING AHEAD
Utah hits the road the following week as it kicks off the 2024 calendar year with Arizona State on Thursday, Jan. 4, before heading east on I-10 to battle the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, Jan. 6. Dave Feldman and Corey Williams will have the call between the Runnin' Utes and Sun Devils on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. (MT) while Daron Sutton and Matt Muehlebach has the action against the Wildcats at 6 p.m. (MT) on Pac-12 Networks.
