LAST TIME OUT
Utah did not start its homestand how it had planned falling to Stanford 78-72 despite the Utes rally in the second half. The 15-point deficit in the first half (46-31) was too much to overcome against a surging Cardinal team that has now won five-straight games, including four-consecutive in Pac-12 play, after starting league play 0-7.
Â
Lazar Stefanovic stepped up for the Utes with the absence of
Gabe Madsen, scoring a career-high 26 points on 10-of-22 (.455) shooting – including six from 3-point range – with six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Branden Carlson added 17 points and seven boards while
Rollie Worster was just shy of another triple-double with 10 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.
Â
UP NEXT
The Runnin' Utes will have a light week ahead with its lone game against Colorado slated for next Saturday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. on FS1 inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center. That match-up will be the first time the Buffs and Utes square off before Utah puts a bow on the regular-season in Boulder on Saturday, March 4, ahead of the conference tournament.
Â
LOOKING AHEAD
Utah will hit the road in two weeks after hosting Colorado for a very important match-up against #5/7 Arizona (Feb. 16) and Arizona State (Feb. 18) over in the Grand Canyon State with Pac-12 Tournament seeding implications on the line.
