- The first 200 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a free Utah Utes pennant and mini bat.
- Several other programming items are planned for Saturday as a means of celebrating baseball and those who play at all levels.
The First Pitch: Things to Know
It's the final series of the regular season for the Utah baseball team as the Utes host Oregon for a three-game Pac-12 set inside Smith's Ballpark. All three games from Thursday through Saturday will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks with Thad Anderson and former Utah longtime head coach Bill Kinneberg on the call.
- Along with TV coverage, ESPN 700 AM and 92.1 FM will have Thursday and Saturday's games on the radio airwaves will Bill Riley behind the microphone.
- First baseman Jayden Kiernan heads into the weekend leading the Pac-12 Conference with a .407 batting average; it ranks 18th in the country. The redshirt senior and Gallatin, Tennessee, product is riding a 13-game hitting streak, 33-game on-base streak and leads the team with 24 multi-hit games this season.
- Since April 1, Kiernan is hitting .435 with six doubles, four home runs, 20 RBI and a .602 slugging percentage. Catcher Davis Cop has also been a large-scale contributor with a .333 clip in that span, along with seven doubles, seven homers and 32 RBI.
- NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List honoree Micah Ashman shares the Pac-12 Conference lead with nine saves, placing Ashman in the top-20 nationally. Ashman, a lefty from just down the road in Sandy, shares second place on the single-season saves list at Utah (Tyler Wagner holds the record with 12 during the 2011 season).
- Ashman, Zac McCleve (3) and Blake Whiting (1) have combined for 13 saves this season to set a new Pac-12 era program record for the team. The previous Pac-12 era mark belonged to the 2022 club that had 12 saves.
- Outfielder TJ Clarkson is tied for 12th in the Pac-12 with 12 home runs on the season—counting toward a career total of 26 long balls for Clarkson to rank eighth at Utah in the last 25 seasons. His 12 homers this year are the most by a Ute in a single season since C.J. Cron clubbed 15 during 2011.
- Utah is looking to turn the tables on a trend of late as Oregon has had the Utes' number over the last few seasons. The Utes are in search of their first series win over the Ducks since 2017, when Utah triumphed in the final two games in Salt Lake City. Utah also went on the road to Eugene in 2016 and came away with a 2-0 rubber game victory against the No. 19-ranked Ducks.
- The 2016 series victory over Oregon was a turning point for the Utes on the way to winning the program's first Pac-12 Championship. After starting that year with just a 4-11 record, the club finished the regular season 22-16 and 19-11 in league play to secure a berth in the Oxford Regional.
