Davison reels in Player, Freshman of the Week Honors, Lopez wins Pitcher of the Week
SAN FRANCISCO – For the first time in program history, the No. 19 University of Utah softball team scored a clean sweep of the Pac-12's weekly awards, with Karlie Davison earning the titles of player of the week and freshman of the week, while Mariah Lopez was selected as the conference pitcher of the week.
Both players took on starring roles during Utah's sweep of No. 13 Oregon, with Davison going 4-for-8 at the plate with a 1.625 slugging percentage. In Friday's victory, her fifth-inning homer provided an insurance run for the Utes in a 3-1 triumph. One day later, Davison blasted a pair of two-run round-trippers, her first multi-homer game as a Ute, and drove in four total runs to lead Utah past the Ducks, 8-2. She added one more hit on Sunday to finish the weekend with 13 total bases, three runs scored, three homers and five RBIs.

Lopez was almost untouchable in both her starts, logging two complete games, allowing one earned run and tossing the first seven-inning no-hitter by a Utah hurler since 2012. She started her week with seven innings of one-run ball on Friday in which she permitted only four hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out seven in a 3-1 victory. On Sunday, she was even better, no-hitting the Ducks for seven innings and retiring 15 of the last 16 batters she faced while also racking up six strikeouts. Lopez ended her no-hitter by striking out the side in the seventh, completing a week in which she pitched to a 0.50 ERA in 14 innings, while piling up 13 punchouts.

Lopez, who was also named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week on April 17, is the first Ute to ever snag that award twice in one season, while Davison is the first Utah player to ever win both player and freshman of the week simultaneously. The heroics of Lopez and Davison helped propel the Utes to their first-ever series sweep of Oregon and the program's first series victory in Eugene.
