NOÁIN, Spain – The Utah men's basketball team made it rain all around the basketball court on Monday in its third game of the foreign tour and rolled passed Navarro 112-82 inside a packed house at Polideportivo Municipal de Noáin.
Â
First quarter action was a bit high scoring with both squads exchanging 3-pointers from both sides of the floor. The Utes also trailed for the first time in Spain, falling behind Navarro 5-3 in the opening minutes. However, the Utes were able gather themselves and take a 31-28 edge at the end of the first 10 minutes. Utah settled in much better in the second quarter and picked up its defensive to take a 57-39 lead into the break.
Â
Gabe Madsen, who had a team-high 18 points, kept the defense guessing all game as he knocked down shot after shot from all over the floor. The Utes as a team didn't let up, capitalizing on Navarro's miscues by scoring on the offensive end and pushed their lead to 92-57 at the end of the third frame.
Â
Utah's offense continued to dominate in the final minutes of play to allow head coach
Craig Smith to unload his bench. Every available player for the Runnin' Utes found the bottom of the basket while five players reached double-figures.
Â
Deivon Smith scored 12 points while freshman
Jake Wahlin chipped in with 11 of his own.
Wilguens Jr. Exacte and
Ben Carlson each added 10 points apiece to round out the list of double-digit scorers for Utah.
Â
Prior to the start of the game, Noáin Mayor Sebastian Marco Zaratiegui presented Coach Smith and the Runnin' Utes a plaque for their participation in Monday's game.

Â
Utah will now head to Madrid on Tuesday, Aug. 1, and play its final game on Aug. 2 before heading back to SLC on Friday, Aug. 4.
