DALLAS – The University of Utah Football team is well represented on the 2023 Outland Trophy Watch List with offensive linemen
Keaton Bills and
Sataoa Laumea along with defensive tackle
Junior Tafuna all earning recognition.
Utah is one of five teams with three players on the watch list, leading the way for the Pac-12 with Tafuna being the only defensive tackle from the league on the list. The Outland Trophy is awarded to the nation's best interior linemen annually.
All three players were named to the Preseason All-Pac-12 list with Tafuna and Bills also earning preseason All-America status.
Bills has played in 33 career games at Utah with 25 starts, all at left guard. He earned All-Pac-12 honors last season after helping the Utes to 217.6 rushing yards per game with the offensive line only allowing 1.07 sacks per game.
Laumea is a three-time All-Pac-12 selection, earning first team in 2022. He has played in 33 games as a Ute with 31 starts (19 at RG, 13 at RT), leading Utah alongside Bills to have the 11
th-best rushing offense in the FBS last season.
Tafuna earned All-Pac-12 second-team in 2022 after contributing 27 tackles (3.5 TFL, 1.0 sack), an interception, two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. He has played in 27 games at Utah with 25 consecutive starts.
