Flippen and USA Softball to begin World Cup Finals on July 15
OKLAHOMA CITY – Hannah Flippen, a former three-time All-American for Utah softball, has been named to the USA Softball roster for the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's World Cup, it was announced on Friday.
Flippen previously wore the Red, White and Blue during the group stage of WBSC World Cup, which was held in 2023, as well as playing for the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the 2018 Japan Cup and International Cup.
A native of Bonita, Calif., Flippen earned a spot on the USA roster after putting together a career at Utah that saw her become the program's all-time leader in runs, hits and batting average. Flippen concluded her career as the first four-time All-Pac-12 honoree in school history. She was the first Ute named Pac-12 Softball Player of the Year in consecutive seasons and the first person in the history of the conference to win that award, along with Defensive Player of the Year honors, in the same season. She also helped the Utes reach the NCAA Tournament three-years-in-a-row, including back-to-back trips to the super regional series in 2016 and 2017.
The World Cup Finals are scheduled to the be held from July 15 – 21 in Castions di Strada, Italy and Flippen and her teammates will play their first game on July 15 against Canada.
