SAN FRANCISCO – Following a red-hot week at the plate in which she pounded out 11 hits,
Aliya Belarde has been honored with the Pac-12 Player of the Week award, it was announced on Monday.
Belarde collected multiple hits in all four of Utah's games during the previous week, starting with a 4-for-4 performance against Utah State that included a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. In a doubleheader on Friday, Utah's second baseman went 4-for-7, blasted her third home run of the season and added two more RBIs to go with three runs scored. She closed out the weekend with a three-hit day on Sunday, two of which were doubles.
Overall, the California native hit .733 in four games with five extra base hits, four RBIs and seven runs scored. She finished the week with a 1.267 slugging percentage.
Belarde is the first Ute to take home this honor in 2024, with the program's most recent player of the week selection being
Karlie Davison, who reeled in the conference's final such award of 2023.
Belarde and her teammates are preparing to embark upon a week on the road that will start on Wednesday when they visit Weber State at 3 p.m., followed by a three-game series against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
