Utah Attack Comes Alive in Win Over Loyola Chicago

Gibadlo, Jardine and Vos post double-digit kills to lead the offense
CHICAGO – Utah Volleyball secured its second win of the weekend, defeating Loyola Chicago for the second day in a row, 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-19).
After the Utes dropped just their fifth set of the season, falling in the first set by a tough 25-21 decision. Utah bounced back to take the next three consecutive sets, recording a season-high .358 hitting percentage as a team, matching the season-high kills (60), assists (58), and aces (8).
Utah bounced back to dominate in the second set, opening up to take an early 7-3 lead. Utah won the race to 15, as Kamry Bailey ignited a five-point Utah run which saw the Utes advantage extend to 18-10. With Claranne Fechter holding serve and providing an ace, the Utes pushed the lead out to 21-12, before finishing the set off with a 25-15 win.
The Utes carried the momentum into the third set, capturing a 14-10 lead at the midway point. Utah continued to add to its advantage by going up 22-15, coming off the Isabelle Marco service rally. Scoring the final three points of the set, Utah got a kill from Allie Olsen before taking advantage of back-to-back errors by the Ramblers.
Utah would trail for the first time since the first set, as the fourth set got underway. Kamryn Gibadlo ignited the Utah comeback with a kill to bring the Utes within one, trailing 16-15. Utah and Loyola continued to exchange points, seeking an advantage down the stretch. The Utes put together a five-point run to close out the match, with Rianne Vos putting down three kills and Kamry Bailey and Vanessa Ramirez putting down the final two.
